Lily Tabanera
Published on

We’re all familiar with Boracay’s pristine beaches and the adorable Tarsiers and Chocolate Hills in Bohol. But the Visayas has so much more to offer! Whether you’re looking for adventure, history, or food, a tour of the Visayas will give you an experience you’ll never forget.

Here are tourist spot destinations you might want to visit the next time you’re there:

If you want to visit some ruins: Negros Occidental

The Ruins are the remains of the ancestral home mansion of the family of sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson. It is situated in Talisay, Negros Occidental and was built in the early 1900s, inspired by Italian architecture. How did it reach its current state? It was burned down during World War II.

If you want to marvel at rock formations: Samar

The Biri Rock Formation is a series of gigantic, rough-hewn rock formations facing the Pacific. It is part of the 5,000-hectare Biri Larosa Protected Landscape and Seascape in Northern Samar.  The otherworldly landscape of Biri is purely nature’s handiwork, from the craggy boulders to the inviting natural pools at its base.

If you want to go back in time: Cebu

Cebu is deeply rooted in Spanish history and Catholicism, thanks to Magellan. The city is filled with churches and other historical sites, including Fort San Pedro. The fort is an architectural marvel, dating back to 1565.

If you want to immerse in local culture: Antique

You could go kayaking in the Tibiao river and bathe in a hot “kawa” as if you're in a relaxing jacuzzi. You could also learn pottery and brick-making in Tibiao!
