Post-Holiday Detox Drinks to Try
Lily Tabanera
Published on

During the holidays, even the healthiest eaters find it hard to stay on track. What with back to back celebrations, family get-togethers, and all that delicious food from Cornucopia-like tables, no one can blame you if your self-control slipped!

However, after several weeks of retox, your body is probably telling you that it’s time to lighten the load. Want to lose that extra poundage? There are different ways to lose weight and one of them is through detoxing. Drinking water goes hand-in-hand with losing weight. And since you just came "back" from the holidays, it's ideal to start slow.

A detox drink or detox water is made by combining plain water with fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and letting the ingredients soak for at least two hours in the refrigerator. The longer you soak the ingredients, the more flavors and nutrients you get from your drink!

Here are three easy detox water recipes to help you start the year right:

Strawberry Mint Water

Strawberries are packed full of Vitamin C, which means that they increase metabolism. They also help reduce that post-holiday bloat you’ve been lamenting about. For this drink, combine sliced strawberries and mint leaves in a bottle. Pour cold water or refrigerate. Your bottle can even be refilled with fresh water using the same mint and strawberries a couple of times.

Pineapple and Orange Infused Water

This tropical drink is also full of Vitamin C—naturally increasing metabolism, flushing fat, and re-energizing your skin! You’ll need about half a cup of sliced pineapple and half an orange. Using a drink infuser or a squeezer, make the most out of the orange's natural juices.

Lemon Honey Water

A lemon and honey drink in the morning works wonders! To make this beverage, boil a cup of water and allow it to cool before adding a teaspoon of organic, unprocessed honey. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon and add it to the honey water. And in case you caught a cold during the holidays, this drink is a perfect natural remedy!
