New York Fashion Week Spring 2018 Beauty Looks You Can Totally Recreate

Published on

Runways provide a wellspring of both fashion and beauty inspiration, but how often do we look at a runway trend and think “Oh, I could totally rock this wet-look hair and black lipstick at work tomorrow”? Not that often, we assume. Although some runway looks may seem too avant-garde and intimidating to the average non-model girl, you’ll be surprised at how easy to DIY a lot of these looks are. Here are some of our favorite beauty trends from the recent New York Fashion Week Spring 2018. You don't need a professional glam squad to rock these fresh-of-the-ramp looks. iamClaire's got you covered.

Smudged Black Cat Eyes

The Look: At the Jason Wu show, the models sported natural brushed-up brows, radiant skin, and nude lips. But the pièce de résistance was the smudged winged liner.
How To Recreate: For brows, create soft upward strokes using a brow tint then use a clear or tinted brow gel to set it. Use a dual-ended pen and brow setting gel like the Clio Kill Brow Tinted Tattoo to achieve this look. As for the eye makeup, apply a winged liner only at the end part of the eyes using a black pencil eyeliner like the Clio Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black and then smudge it out using a blending brush.

Burgundy Eyes
The Look: Smoky burgundy eyes perfectly matched Brock Collection’s dreamy spring clothes. The eye makeup is the highlight of the whole look, with the rest of the face kept very fresh and minimal.
How To Recreate: Apply a warm shimmery red shade all over the lid and then use a deeper berry shade on the outer corners of the eye. The Kylie Cosmetics' The Burgundy Palette has all the shades you need to create this eye look. Coat your upper and lower lashes with a light layer of mascara like the Missha Over Lengthening Mascara Wave Lash and then line your waterline using a black pencil eyeliner like Missha Long Wear Skinny Gel Pencil Liner Deep Black. For the lips, use a neutral pink shade like Girlactik’s Beauty Matte Lip Paint Posh.

Natural Beauty

Rise and shine. #AllAccessKors #NYFW

A post shared by Michael Kors (@michaelkors) on

The Look: “Untouched beauty” was the primary theme for Michael Kors’ runway models. The makeup team behind this low-key beauty look focused on bare skin and paired it with natural, unkempt hair. It’s almost as if the models just got out of the bed and went straight to the catwalk.
How To Recreate: Since you’re going bare-faced, prep your skin using a toner like Japonesa Stem Cell Toner and a moisturizer, like the Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion. Ditch the foundation and use a liquid concealer like the Missha The Style Perfect Concealer only on areas you need coverage, like under the eyes, and blemishes, if any. Apply a tinted balm on your lips and you’re done!

Cherry Red Nails

The Look: The models from the Adam Selman runway show sported a very minimal makeup look as well. The face was kept pretty much clean with just a coat of mascara on the lashes. The focal point was the cherry red lacquered nails. We can already envision ourselves wearing this shade on our nails at the beach while sipping on a margarita under the sun.
How To Recreate: The Horizon nail polish by Ruby Wing will give you that striking cherry red nail color.

Glam Cat Eyes

The Look:
This elegant yet glamourous beauty look for the Banana Republic show featured soft eye makeup with a light champagne rose gold eyeshadow and thinly lined cat eyes, paired with feathered brows, pink blush, and a berry-toned lipstick. The makeup look was complemented by a middle-parted ponytail—très chic!
How To Recreate: Apply a wash of champagne colored eyeshadow like Girlactik Beauty Star Shadow in Mariposa all over the lid then apply a thin line of eyeliner with a slight wing toward the ends using a black liquid liner like the Kylie Cosmetics Kyliner in Black.

Mod Makeup

The Look:
The makeup look at the Carolina Herrera show was reminiscent of the 60’s and it’s absolute perfection. The brows are bold and feathered, the eyes are rimmed with matte black liner, the cheeks are flushed with a warm pink blush, and finally the look is finished off with a subtle pink glossy lip.
How To Recreate: To create this mod look, line the upper and lower lash lines with a matte black eyeliner pencil like Missha Long Wear Skinny Gel Pencil Liner Deep Black then apply a rosy pink blush like Milani’s Powder Blush in Tea Rose. Complete the look with a hydrating pink lippie like Girlactik Star Gloss in Just Nude.
