A lot of people think that detox diet plans are their way to rapid weight loss, so they end up fasting for days on end, depriving their bodies of essential nutrients it needs. But what people don't understand is that a one-day detox is enough to give your organs a chance to take a break and flush out toxins. Think of it as a reset button your body needs for cleansing, healing, and replenishing.
Want to try a detox diet but fussing about the deprivation it entails? End your worries and turn this experience into something beneficial and bearable. Here, a quick 'round-the-clock guide for your first time:
20:00: Put your mind into it.
Maximize your detox plan by making it a holistic experience that is beneficial to you both physically and mentally. Read about the benefits of a detox plan so you can set not just your body, but also your mind into it.
22:00: Do a digital detox.
Log out from social media and avoid binge-watching TV shows. Go to bed early to give your body a proper head start for tomorrow’s detox.
05:00: Squeeze some lemons.
• Start your day the right way by enjoying the benefits of lemon juice. A cup of hot water with freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the body a boost of Vitamin C. It also contains pectin, a soluble fiber that helps eliminate toxins quickly from your body. Keep on drinking lots of fluids throughout the day. Hydration is the secret to an effective detox!
05:30: Perform simple stretching exercises.
Skip your regular workout and do a five-minute stretching instead. During detox, it’s not advisable to do strenuous activities that can drain your body’s energy.
06:00: Whip up a healthy breakfast smoothie.
For breakfast, eat a filling and satisfying meal that won’t leave you feeling heavy and sluggish. You may eat a handful of nuts and drink delicious fruit and vegetable smoothies to keep you going. If it’s hard to give up caffeine, opt for green tea instead of your regular cup of joe.
11:00: Have your greens.
Eat a light lunch to avoid the afternoon slump. Choose a hearty bowl of vegetable soup or fiber-rich salad. Don’t forget to add some lean protein to your meal, too.
Take quick breaks to keep your body active even while on detox. Move away from your desk frequently; this will help improve your blood circulation. Try to do some desk stretches that can help energize your body.
Find time to unwind before heading home. Visit a spa and get a soothing massage. You may also do some gentle and calming yoga routines to relax your mind and body.
19:30: Pack proteins.
For dinner, it’s best to replenish your body with protein. Aside from steamed veggies, you can also have fish like cod or salmon. Chia seeds are also a good source of protein.
22:00: Reward yourself.
Just like the night before, take a social media detox and reward yourself with an eight-hour sleep. You will surely wake up feeling relaxed, energized, and happy the next day!
